At the top of this page, there are two downloadable songs by the Memory Brothers. The first one is "Somebody's Searchin'" written and sung by Doug Koempel. This song originally appeared on the "Waiting For Your Love" album which was released in 1990. Record producer R. Dean Tomich had heard this tune and contacted Doug regarding possibly making it the centerpiece of an entire project. The result was the twelve-song CD, "Somebody's Searchin'," on Tomich's label, Minotaur Records. For this album the song was then re-recorded with a slightly different arrangement, and several additional musicians were added to the production (including guitar ace, Mike Williams.) Eventually, "Somebody's Searchin'" earned a spot on the 1994 Grammy nomination ballot. Not bad for a bunch of guys from the "tall corn state!"
Recently Kevin Conner completed a recording session at the Memory Brothers' studio, Bird-On-Fire Recording. These tunes are all new compositions that he's recently written. The session was live and simple, consisting of acoustic guitar and Kevin's vocals. One of these beautiful songs, "I Want To Be With You," is featured above. So, for super high quality, click on the MP3 link above; or if you just want a quick preview, click on the Real Audio link. (For more info on Kevin, see his picture and bio listed below.)
Oh, and after your journey into the world of the Memory Brothers and their music, please return here and click on the comments button above. We'd like you to share your thoughts with us regarding this great musical group from Iowa.
(And incidentally that's Doug's owner pictured at the top of this page. His name is Gizmo. As Albert Schweitzer said, "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats.")
